freq_out 11 interactive online app

Screen Shot 2017-12-22 at 9.01.45 AMfreq-out is a sound art collective founded and curated by CM Von Hausswolff  in 2003, and it primarily creates site specific sound installations. JG Thirlwell has been a member of the group since its inception.

The latest iteration of freq_out is freq_out 11, designed for interactivity on the internet through the Copenhagen based online radio station The Lake. It consists of a web-mixer and twelve unique and looped minor compositions that may be heard separately or altogether, depending on the mixer faders positions and the web-composer (this being the person behind the computer of course).

Participating artists are  JG Thirlwell, Jana Winderen, Mike Harding, Maia Urstad, Permagnus Lindborg, BJ Nilsen, Christine Ödlund, Finnbogi Petursson, Tommi Grönlund & Petteri Nisunen, Anna Ceeh & Franz Pomassl, Jacob Kirkegaard and Kent Tankred.

Carl Michael von Hausswolff created the concept for the web based version of freq_out and the web based mixer. The mixer was programmed and designed by Bjarke Rasmussen, and the project was facilitated by The Lake, aka Kasper Vang and Jan Stricker

JGT's Great Learning Orchestra commission live

GLO Orangeri webJG Thirlwell has been commissioned by Great Learning Orchestra to create a 45 minute large scale compositon, which will be performed live on March 15 2017 at Sodra Teatern in Stockholm. CM Von Hausswolff will open the evening with a solo set.

The Great Learning Orchestra is a collective of over one hundred musicians based in Stockholm, though the version of GLO that will perform with JG will be about 35 players in number. Great Learning Orchestra‘s model is based on that of Cornelius Cardew‘s Scratch Orchestra, combining musicians of varying abilities, from virtuosos to sound-makers. Their objective is to meet up to explore music with listening in the center. They work extensively with graphic, instructional and unconventional scores and the ensemble has a fluctuating size and instrumentation depending on the piece they are performing. JG Thirlwell has already created two graphic scores for GLO and has conducted workshops with them.
