Xordox performs at Adult Swim Festival in Los Angeles

AdultSwim_1080x1080Xordox will perform on October 6 2018 at the inaugural Adult Swim Music Festival in Los Angeles . The Festival stretches over then weekend of October 6 and 7, and includes performances by Run The Jewels, Zola Jesus, Flying Lotus, Thundercat, Dan Deacon, T-Pain, Big Freedia, Mastodon, Com Truise, High On Fire and many more. The festival will be held at ROW DTLA, 777 Alameda st Los Angeles 90021. Single day or weekend pass tickets are available here.

For this iteration of Xordox, Thirlwell will be joined by long-time musical collaborator Simon Hanes (of Tredici Bacci) on additional keyboards. They will play in front of a visual backdrop created exclusively by Swedish artist Sten Backman. The Xordox album Neospection was released by Editions Mego and is available here.

Thirlwell on John Carpenter remix LP

ff61ba90Earlier this year, legendary film director John Carpenter released his first album of non-soundtrack recordings, Lost Themes. On October 16, Lost Themes Remixed will arrive on vinyl via Sacred Bones. It collects reworks from JG Thirlwell, Zola Jesus, Blanck Mass, ohGr, Bill Kouligas, and Silent Servant that originally appeared on the deluxe edition of the album, plus two new tracks. The new remixes are Prurient‘s take on “Purgatory” and Uniform (the Men’s Ben Greenberg and ex-Drunkdriver Michael Berdan)’s remix of “Vortex”.

Thirlwell remixes John Carpenter for new album

The remix will be  included on the deluxe digital version of Carpenter’s new album on Sacred Bones, Lost Themes. Other artists who have tackled remixes include Zola Jesus with Dean Hurley, Blanck Mass (Ben Power of Fuck Buttons), Silent Servant, ohGr and Bill Kouligas (PAN label head).
Additionally, renegade auteur John Carpenter will make a rare New York appearance at BAM on Thursday, February 5 to discuss his legendary career and celebrate the release of his debut solo album, Lost Themes.
Carpenter has scored many his films and Lost Themes is a collection of unused, previously unheard works in his inimitable style. The album will be released on Feb 3 2015.

Zola Jesus / JG Thirlwell live dates

38The Zola Jesus album “Versions” will be released on Aug 20 on Sacred Bones. Produced by JG Thirlwell, it features Thirlwell’s string arrangements of Zola Jesus material, with the string parts performed by Mivos Quartet.

Zola Jesus and JG Thirlwell will be performing live dates around the album’s release, with different string players in each territory.

Zola and JGT play the Mountain Oasis Festival

17858_LINEUP_600-e1367339046936Zola Jesus and JG Thirlwell with string quartet will be playing the Mountain Oasis Festival in Asheville, North Carolina on October 26. Also on the bill are Nine Inch Nails, Animal Collective, Godspeed You Black Emperor, The Bug, Gary Numan, Chromatics, Actress, Bosnian Rainbows, Delorean and Sorne. Zola Jesus will be releasing the album Versions on Aug 20 on Sacred Bones Records, which is produced by JG Thirlwell, who also wrote the string arrangements. The album consists of the cream of Zola Jesus (aka Nika Roza Danilova) songs from Cialis Generic her illustrious past, rearranged and re-recorded for string quartet and electronics, as well as a JG arrangement of the unreleased track “Fall Back”.

JG Thirlwell produces Zola Jesus album with his string arrangements

e2b698b9In 2012 Zola Jesus teamed with JG Thirlwell for a performance at the Guggenheim Museum. They performed new arrangements of Zola Jesus material rearranged  by JG Thirlwell for string quartet and electronics. Studio recordings of those arrangements, produced by Thirlwell with the string parts performed by Mivos Quartet, will be released in an album called Versions, which is out August 20 via Sacred Bones. The album was recorded at Gary’s Electric Studio in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint with Al Carlson engineering. Zola Jesus will tour with Thirlwell and string quartet later this year. JGT meets Zola Jesus at the Guggenheim

JG Thirlwell is working with Zola Jesus on a performance of her works at the Guggenheim Museum on May 10, 2012. The performance by Zola Jesus will feature string quartet and electronics as a departure from her regular instrumentation, and JG Thirlwell has composed the string arrangements for the concert and will act as musical director. The string players will be the Mivos Quartet, with Manorexia alumni Elena Moon Park guest substituting for Mivos’ Olivia DePrato. The performance will be part of Divine Ricochet, a Guggenheim Music Series.
